I spent the day wishing for food, any kind of food, but it was not to be. We were still in the holding pattern, watching the chest tube fluid trickle and avoiding food so to keep that fluid a pinkish color. I am finally getting some liquid food (TPN) by IV tonight. After not having anything to eat since Tuesday at 6pm, I am ready for something!!
I asked Dr. Beyers if there was anything I could do to help with the waiting, and he said "think dry thoughts". So here I sit thinking of the Sonoran Desert. :-)
Sending warm thoughts of hot salsa, desert heat and margaritas your way! Keep on keepin on.
ReplyDeleteSounds like what the doctor ordered Brad! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteGirl, I am wishing, and hoping and thinking and most of all praying for no more drainage! I think Derby Day will be a good day for you!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWho is your horse today?
Hi Lisa! I didn't know I could send a message this way. It is raining in Louisville, as you probably know. If you are watching the races, you are not thinking "dry thoughts" Anyway, dry up!
ReplyDeleteHarry
I'm thinking about a hot tub, sauna, hot tub, sauna retreat, well, may throw a hot coal massage into the mix!
ReplyDeleteWell, Lisa, I know this is a big day for you, Derby! So, I don't have much but I will tell you another little tidbit of my past...
Here, my (ex - thank God) and I had tix to the Final 4 again and I started having chest pain. (Knew I would need the AVR at some point.) The Dr. said it was time. And, oh yeah, the Ex - well he sought takers for my ticket. (He would just go with someone else while I was undergoing cardiac surgery!) WTH?! Oh yeah, it was definitely time to ditch him! But surgery 1st!
So, of course, surgery is the Thursday of the Final 4 weekend and I'm in the room, with an elder lady from Maine who doesn't know a hoot about the game. Between my bathroom breaks and her transfusions, I enlightened her. By Monday, she was sooo excited for the Final, I think she may have watched more of it than me!
Syracuse won that year in N'Orleans and a very nice couple (our Celtics friends) went on our tix. The damn ex woke up in time not to go and I woke up - to go - on with my life.
Life is so, so much better now and your's will be too. Grab someone to watch the Derby with you and shiver with a tear as we all will during the singing of My Old KY Home.
Jeanne
Lisa, I see you still have your sense of humor. Here is a "dry thought", I want PANTS ON FIRE to win the Derby. The girl jockey almost won the Oaks yesterday. I hope you and Nancy get to watch it. Vic called Howard to wish him "Happy Birthday"last night.
ReplyDeleteMargie said to sent prayers to you as we all are praying hard for you to eat and get on to your new place. Hope you pick a winner in the Derby and will keep in touch. Love you,
Dry thoughts? Um, let's see, how your mouth feels the next morning after one too many margaritas..
