My 2011 Derby

It wasn't at home; it wasn't even in Kentucky, but I did get to see the wonderful Kentucky Derby from my hospital room today.  My aunt Nancy and friends Paul and Kristi shared the experience with me watching on the itty bitty tv in the room.  It was quite comical actually.

Things are still status quo with me; just waiting for this fluid volume to keep on decreasing and trying not to obsess about eating.  :-)  I don't expect to know much more on that front until tomorrow.  So, in the meantime, here are a few pics from my Derby day.  Thanks for all of the encouraging messages I continue to receive - they help me so much!!

I pretended there was a mint julep in my glass

My niece Laurel sent a horse to help me celebrate

Yes, seeing 19 horses on that screen was a stretch  :-)

  2. Due to circumstances beyond our control, Ben and I were unable to get back to the hospital to attend the Derby party with Lisa on her mini TV. i am glad we brought the blue horse this morning. It looked good in the pictures! Finally glad to see Lisa in person!

  4. Hey, can someone let me know who won the KY Derby? It was too hard to see on that little TV!! Haha, just kidding. I told Lisa I felt like we were lined up in our special movie theatre seating! This was a special Derby that I will always remember, thanks to our Lisa.

  5. Lisa, your Derby was much more exciting than mine as I fail asleep and missed the whole thing. Since we lost our bet, I'm glad I did. I love the pictures. You look great.

  6. I thought about you all day! If it makes you feel better, your Derby Party was better than mine. We cleaned closets and worked around the house all day. I only stopped to watch the race.
