The Adventure Begins...

Thanks for checking out my blog! This is my first attempt at creating a blog, so bear with me as I learn as I go. I am so fortunate to have many people who care about me and what I will be going thru during the transplant process. I thought this would be a good way for everyone to stay up to date.

A little background information - as my health had started to decline in the past couple of years, I decided to begin the transplant evaluation process in May 2010 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. At that time I wasn't quite ready according to the transplant team. I was told to come back in 6-12 months to reevaluate my health. So, I returned in February 2011 and was told that I should consider getting listed in 1-2 months. Since then I have been busy getting my ducks in a row to prepare for relocation to St. Louis. It is preferred that one live within 2.5 hours of the hospital while waiting, so that is my reason for moving. I am friends with a couple who lives in the St. Louis area who have graciously offered me a place to stay while I wait. I will be writing more about them after Sherman and I get settled in at their home on April 7. (Oh yes, I get to take my sweet dog with me!)

Before I leave I will be having a big send-off party that has turned into a benefit fundraiser that I was never expecting. It promises to be a fun, but emotional gathering.
